"yesterday"
having a really hard time falling asleep tonight don't know why all of a sudden my mind feels so heavy, too many thoughts, too many feelings all coming together at once. starting to really miss the times back in hk 4 years ago, when we were all there, everyday seeing the same good friends, saying the same random bs, standing by the same set of lockers. life seemed so much simpler back then. walking down the same hill after the same bell at 3:20 to get cheap but tasty steamed food from the same sketchy place. one day when i go back i wonder if the store will still be there - i wonder if you all will still be there.
it seems to be an eternity since those days. it seems like we've all walked so far - travelled so far around the world to reach our dreams. yet no matter how far we walk, there's always a part of us that yearns for the past - that tries so hard to go back in time, but which ultimately gets hit by the reality that what's past can never be reached again. it's an awkward feeling. back in those days they would fill our minds with thoughts that the upcoming 4 years would be the best times of our lives - the pinnacle and defining set of years. we really were supposed to be living the dream - we still are supposed to be living the dream.
it's interesting how we all meet many people over the course of our lives, but how there'll only be some who we'll give everything up for, only some who we can rely on, let go and believe that they'll be there to catch you no matter what happens or how far you fall. how there'll only be some people who you can lose track of for years, yet re-meet and talk as if not a single day had passed. to me, true feelings are timeless - maybe one day we'll all manage to meet and talk as if this were all yesterday. |
